Figuring out what to do after finding out you’re unexpectedly pregnant can be daunting. You and your partner may not agree about what you want to do next, but pressuring you into an abortion is not okay. This is ultimately your decision.

This Is Your Decision
You might feel obligated to listen to your partner’s concerns or give in to their pressure to have an abortion, but your feelings, safety, and ability to make your own decision matter.
Your partner may have strong feelings about the pregnancy, but they should not pressure or coerce you into a decision.
Taking time to consider your own feelings and future, seeking accurate information about your options, and confiding in trusted family or friends can help you see more clearly what you truly want.
Some useful questions to ask yourself are:
- How do I feel about this pregnancy?
- What concerns do I have about each option?
- What information do I still need?
- Do I feel free to make my own decision?
Remember, your safety comes first. If your partner’s pressure has turned into threats or any type of behavior that makes you feel unsafe, please reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
Learn About Your Other Options
You have three pregnancy options to learn about: abortion, adoption, and parenting. If you are feeling unsure about what you want to do, learning about these options and the support and resources available can help you make an informed decision.
At Aspire Women’s Clinic, we can provide information about your options, along with resources, support, and referrals for parenting and adoption.
Understand Why an Ultrasound Matters
As part of a pregnancy confirmation screening, we include a no-cost limited OB ultrasound at our clinic after a positive pregnancy test result.
You may wonder, “Why does an ultrasound matter if I already have a positive pregnancy test?”
A positive pregnancy test confirms the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), but it cannot determine the pregnancy’s gestational age, confirm where the pregnancy is located, or detect fetal cardiac activity.
This information is important for several reasons. Florida’s abortion law changed significantly on May 1, 2024. Abortion is now prohibited once a pregnancy reaches 6 weeks of gestational age, with certain exceptions.
Knowing the location of the pregnancy is also important because an ectopic pregnancy can be dangerous to your health and requires urgent medical attention.
Find Healthy Support
Consider talking with someone you trust who will listen without trying to make the decision for you. This could be a friend, family member, counselor, healthcare provider, or care coordinator at our clinic.
Healthy support should give you space to ask questions, express your feelings, and make your own decision. Aspire Women’s Clinic can support you confidentially, whether you need accurate information or simply someone to listen.
We Are Here for You
Whether you are preparing to have a difficult conversation with your partner or simply need somewhere to turn to, Aspire Women’s Clinic can provide confidential pregnancy confirmation services and information about your options.
