You’ve been through an abortion before, and you don’t want to go through another one. Now the question is: what does a different path look like?
There are two other options: parenting and adoption. You can take the time you need to review each one and what they may look like for you.
Aspire Women’s Clinic in Naples is here to help as you explore. We offer free, confidential appointments where you can get information about your other two options, parenting and adoption, without pressure. Here’s what each option involves.
Parenting
The idea of parenting often raises questions about support, finances, and timing. If you don’t feel ready for this responsibility, it’s okay. Many women feel this way at first.
Talk with us about how we can help you. We can share what to expect, what you might need, and provide assistance in finding solutions for insurance, continuing education, and childcare.
You may be surprised by the number of resources available and the level of support that’s really out there. State programs like Florida Healthy Start provide free prenatal care coordination, and WIC can help with food benefits and nutrition support.
Which of these you qualify for depends on your circumstances. Come in and visit us, and we can help identify what applies to your situation.
Adoption
Adoption raises a different set of questions. You may be nervous about the process or think that you’re going to lose all control. But adoption today looks much different from what women expect.
There are three types of adoption plans, each with varying levels of contact.
- Open adoption allows ongoing, direct contact with the birth mother, adoptive child, and the adoptive family.
- Semi-open adoption involves communication through an intermediary, such as an adoption agency. You can control how much personal information you share.
- Closed adoption involves full privacy without contact. Some women choose this option if they believe it’s the safest option for them or their child.
Adoption expenses are also a common worry, but the adoptive family typically covers medical and legal costs, in accordance with state adoption expense laws.
We can answer your questions about adoption and refer you to reputable adoption agencies to address any specific questions. Rest assured, there’s no assumed commitment when you talk with an adoption agency, and adoptions are not legally finalized until after birth.
